Let's Talk Text: Designing Accessible Reading Experiences
This session demonstrates essential strategies for creating accessible text that enhances learning for all learners. Participants will learn to:
- Structure content with hierarchical headings for improved navigation
- Apply accessible writing principles that emphasize clarity and inclusivity
- Select appropriate typefaces and fonts to enhance readability
- Present information effectively to minimize cognitive load
- Design descriptive hyperlinks that aid comprehension
Through a practical demonstration, attendees will observe the step-by-step transformation of an inaccessible text into an accessible format. Common accessibility barriers, including poor contrast ratios and complex language, will be addressed. This session is valuable for both beginners and experienced practitioners seeking to strengthen their accessible content design skills.
